More and more users have grown accustomed to Microsoft Teams over the past year or so. Confined to working from home during the pandemic, many of us started using this platform out of necessity. But then we gradually discovered its potential to transform the way we collaborate with clients and colleagues.
That learning curve has continued to rise sharply into a new era of hybrid working. The video conferencing, screen-sharing and general chat offered by Microsoft Teams have all become vital to our daily meetings and interactions. Many of us have also embraced file sharing, wikis and a host of plug-in functions from tasks management to project management.
So, what’s next for the evolution of Microsoft Teams within your business? Well, Microsoft Teams Phone. That’s what!
What is Microsoft Teams Phone?
Microsoft Teams Phone is an all-in-one app that allows you to save money by replacing your current phone system, whilst providing greater flexibility to make and receive calls on the move.
Traditional handsets are available should you wish to run it like a traditional office phone system. But the features of this rich, reliable and secure product resemble those of any VoIP solution with software clients available for PC, Mac, and mobile.
The main features include:
- Make, receive and transfer voice and video calls
- Call park and retrieve to a different device
- Call management – group call pick up and forward to group, cloud call queues, do not disturb, forward to voicemail, call blocking
- Call conferencing
- Direct routing so individuals can use their own telecom provider and make calls using their existing phone provider.
- Auto-attendant lets you create a menu system that enables external and internal callers to locate users or departments within your organisation.
- Music on hold, voicemail and much more…
How our customers are using Microsoft Teams Phone
Many Fusion clients who have adopted Microsoft Teams Phone are using it like a traditional phone system with handsets the desk. Others have seized the opportunity to “go soft” using Teams software and headsets in the office and their mobile app on the go. Others are somewhere in between.
All clients have been impressed by the flexibility this system brings and have enjoyed managing their own menu options, call routing and auto attendant settings.
Plans and pricing
Broadly speaking, there are two pricing plans available.
- Operator Connect for Teams is the plan we are proposing to most of our customers. It offers unlimited calls to UK landlines, mobiles and 03 numbers. It also includes a DR (disaster recovery) option allowing businesses to transfer to mobile in the event of an internet outage
- Microsoft Call Plan uses Microsoft’s own SIP connections. However, this plan is limited to 1,200 mins per month shared between all callers and does not include a DR option.
